This is a test of the emergency alert system

Test test, testes, test

this might just be my worst idea yet

I don't even know where to start this. I guess I initially just wanted my own little slice of the internet to play on, like back when I was a kid and had stuff like xanga and myspace - I even had a little personal site of my own back then, an offshoot of the family website my dad used to maintain. It was basically just a posterboard with pictures of me and my friends and my sister, with heaps of low-poly gifs scattered around the page like digital glitter, but it was mine. There was a part of me that also wanted to focus on bringing back that old feel the interent had, but I would say that desire has grown a bit since I initially set the site up in 2024. Now, it kinda feels like it's important that people such as myself, and of course you, dear reader (if anyone ever does read this) continue to use and develop these sites, lest we lose our foothold on the internet to corporations and bots.

Woof, that sounds pretentious to me, but it's true. They've been slowly but surely to eradicate true 3rd-Spaces, instead replacing every square foot of real estate with commercial "buy your shit and gtfo" spaces, to the point where it's expanded into our online spaces as well. I'd like a space where I'm NOT the product, and I'd like that to extend to other people too. Maybe at some point I'll figure out how to get a message board going; I don't even have a guestbook set up yet. This site so far is broken and jankey, patched and hobbled together with mish-mash code and assets from our generous nerdy bretheren, but it's made me start brushing back up on my code, and fuck it, it's mine.

I've been having this interesting feeling that a big change is gonna happen soon, culturally, I think. For the last few years, it's been clear we've reached a straining point, where innovation has been squashed by either insane demands from would-be innovators daily lives, or just outright killed by major companies out of fear of competition. On top of that, we've hit a point in history where once again people are being treated as goods, and the general masses are starting to REALLY notice and see the extremes we're all in. Just something I've ben chewing on.
